Modern Family Dunphy house
A frequent question we get from our lovely readers is “Where do the Dunphy’s live?” You guys really love you some Modern Family, so here we go!
The answer: a 2-story, single-family L.A. residence located at 10336 Dunleer Dr in Cheviot Hills. The Phil and Claire Dunphy house boasts 2,792 square feet of living space, 4 bedrooms, and 5 bathrooms (4 of which are en-suite).
This traditional suburban dream home was built in 2006 – only 3 years before Modern Family’s television debut. While Phil Dunphy and wife Claire’s home in the series was nice, the interior of the real Modern Family home is even better!
Upon entering the residence, you’re instantly greeted with gorgeous mahogany floors and crown molding for days. The spacious gourmet kitchen features red marble countertops as well as top-notch Viking appliances. Directly off the kitchen sits the formal dining room – with French doors that lead out into the garden.
In addition to an uber classy living room, there’s also a cozy family room for more casual occasions. 1 en-suite bedroom is located on the first floor, while the rest are situated on the second level, including the master suite. The master suite also features a private balcony that overlooks the backyard.
Jay’s House Modern Family
Jay Pritchett’s modern family house location is 121 S. Cliffwood Ave in Brentwood. Yes, THAT Brentwood – home to more celeb real estate than we can list here! The 2-story contemporary, in reality, is actually way bigger than the Pritchett house on the show, boasting 6,400 square feet.
Lots of glass throughout the residence creates more than enough natural lighting on sunny days for every room in the house. The wood that frames every window and door of the home provides some much-needed color to its exterior.
The first floor is an entirely open concept – with the living room, dining room, and kitchen all sharing the same space. 5-bedrooms and 5-bathrooms ensure there’s plenty of room for visiting guests and family (or lots of rec rooms).
Outside, there’s a spacious swimming pool & spa, an outdoor stone fireplace, and a firepit – all of which is surrounded by tropical plants and trees. The posh Brentwood abode is currently estimated to be worth $7.5 million.
Mitch and Cam House Modern Family
While not quite as fancy as Jay’s place, Mitch and Cam’s Modern Family home at 2211 Fox Hills Drive in Los Angeles is still stunning. Built in 1929, the home gives off some serious Spanish colonial vibes architecturally speaking.
A well-manicured lawn leads up to the stucco building that’s covered in what appears to be English ivy (sorry, not a vine expert). The residence is actually a duplex, not a single-family home. It features 2,200 square feet of living space as well as 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms total.
Oh, and at least one of the lucky tenants calling this duplex home gets to enjoy their very own Juliet balcony!
Where Is Modern Family Filmed?
Though some of the exterior shots from Modern Family were taken at the homes featured above, pretty much everything else was tv magic. Meaning that all the scenes filmed inside the character’s homes were actually filmed at 20th Century Fox Studios in Century City.
Modern Family Cast
Modern Family focuses on the lives of 3 families all connected by family patriarch, Jay Pritchett.
Jay and Gloria Pritchett
Jay is played by veteran tv actor Ed O’Neill. While some of you may only know him as Pritchett, some of us still haven’t forgotten he was Al Bundy from 1987-1997. Pritchett’s wife, Gloria Delgado-Pritchett, is played by the lovely actress Sofia Vergara, who starred in Chef (2014) and Hot Pursuit (2015).
Vergara’s son in the series, Manny, is played by 22-year-old actor Rico Rodriguez – known for his roles in Epic Movie (2007) and The Muppets (2011). The fictional couples’ youngest child, Joe, is played by Jeremy Maguire.
Phil and Claire Dunphy
Claire Dunphy in Modern Family is played by actress Julie Bowen, known for her roles in Happy Gilmore (1996), Boston Legal (2005-2008), and Ed (2000-2004).
As for actor Ty Burrell, who plays Phil Dunphy, Modern Family isn’t his first time working on one of Christopher Lloyd’s shows. In fact, he starred in the one and only season of Lloyd’s former series Out of Practice from 2005-2006.
In the series, Phil and Claire have 3 children: Haley (played by Sarah Hyland), Alex (played by Ariel Winter), and Luke (played by Nolan Gould).
Mitch and Cam Tucker-Pritchett
Mitchell Pritchett, aka Jay Pritchett’s son, is played by actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson. Ferguson is known for his roles in Untraceable (2008) and Ugly Betty (2007-2010). Eric Stonestreet, who plays Cameron Tucker, has made appearances on several popular crime dramas – including CSI (2001-2005), Bones (2005-2017), and NCIS (2003).
Fun fact: Cam and Mitch made a bit of television history in the U.S. since they were the first same-sex marriage proposal featured on an American series!
Cameron and Mitchell share an adopted daughter in the series named Lily Tucker-Pritchett, played by Aubrey Anderson-Emmons. At age 4, this gal became the youngest actress to receive a Screen Actors Guild Award (SAG) in 2011.
