Given Matthew Stafford’s pension for lavish mansions, it came as a surprise to everyone in 2022 when the star player dished out a total of $11 million on two smaller residences located directly next to eachother in Hidden Hills – both of which he purchased from singer, Drake.
Stafford initially paid $5 million for one of the ranch-style residences and then threw down another $6 million on the house next door – providing Stafford a total of 3.6 acres of land between the two. In the end, Stafford ended up paying $3.6 million over asking price.
The homes, located only a short drive from the spec mansion he sold in 2021, provide a collective 6,094 square feet of living space as well as 8 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms.
Built in 1955-1957, the properties feature ample space for al fresco dining, a heated pool, a BBQ kitchen, and a pizza oven.
Also on the grounds is an 800 square foot casita and pool house – giving Stafford and fam more than enough space for outdoor entertainment and overnight guests.
What Matthew plans to do with the properties is yet to be revealed, though it’s likely the athlete is setting up for this to be his new family residence, given that he’s offloaded the majority of his other homes.

Located in Hidden Hills, aka A-lister central, this contemporary take on a farmhouse is the brainchild of design studio 64North. In March of 2021, Matthew Stafford dished out a hefty $19.6 million for this 15,000 square foot home for him and his growing family.
Much like Stafford’s residence in Bloomfield Hills, his sprawling LA estate features a plethora of windows with striking views of the hills and neighboring canyons. The pro football player ended up selling the estate in an off-market sale for $21 million – $1.4 million more than he bought it for – in 2022.
The grand entrance lives up to its name with an impressive 2-story glass entryway and elaborate chandelier that immediately catches the eye.
The main floor features an open concept living room, dining room, and kitchen with double grey marble islands, 2 sinks, and 2 ovens.
Some noteworthy indoor amenities include 2 temperature-controlled wine cellars, 12-car garage, a gym, a lounge with a wet bar, and a movie theater.
Up the window-lined spiral staircase, you’ll find the spacious master suite with the mother of all walk-in closets. A marble closet island for accessories, lighted glass-front shelving, and more than enough space for even the biggest wardrobe!
Outside, a swimming pool and spa are accompanied by several outdoor sitting areas. The 2 acres of land also feature olive trees as well as a Mediterranean-themed garden.
Matthew Stafford House Bloomfield Michigan (Former)
Designed by Bloomfield Township architect Louis DesRosiers back in 1980, this stunning property is a prime example of luxury real estate. Seriously, if you’ve ever said to yourself “there’s no such thing as the perfect house,” the Matthew Stafford lake house in Bloomfield Hills may just change your mind!
Stafford and his wife purchased the home back in 2013 – adding in a plethora of their own personal touches over the years. The total size after additions ended up giving the Stafford’s a whopping 12,295 square feet of living space to play with.
If there was one word the describe this place, it seems “glassy” would suit it well. A fully glass elevator that services all 3 floors allows for views of Upper Long lake. There’s also a formal dining room encased by glass windows and a glass floor that looks directly into the wine cellar – see? Glassy!
An open concept living room and kitchen offer plenty of entertainment space on the main floor. If that isn’t enough space for the party though, the wall of floor-to-ceiling windows is retractable – opening onto the deck outside with a gorgeous view of the lake.
There’s no shortage of hangout spots throughout this sprawling mansion. Whether you’re in the mood to chill in the cozy family room or enjoy the panoramic views of the lake in the lounge, there’s something for everyone.
If you’re in the mood for gaming, however, the recreation room – complete with a stylish wet bar, pool table, and poker table is just the place for you! If you want to shoot some hoops instead of pool though, Stafford also had an indoor half basketball court added to the property featuring the Detroit Pistons logo.
Fun fact: The wood used on the court was actually taken from the Silverdome floor where the Pistons once played!
Deciding they wanted something near less bodies of water, the Stafford’s chose to list the property for $6.5 million in June 2021. It would eventually sell at the reduced price of $6 million that same year.

The home offers casual dining spaces in the form of a breakfast bar in the kitchen across from the oversized island and the informal dining room nearby.
For those really looking to WOW their dinner guests, however, the formal dining space is where it’s at! From the extravagant chandelier to the view from the double floor-to-ceiling windows, this is one gorgeous place to wine and dine!
The main house boasts 7-bedrooms and 7-bathrooms. This includes an absolutely stunning master suite with vaulted ceilings, a spacious walk-in closet, and an en-suite bathroom with a luxurious spa-style bathtub. Located downstairs, at the terrace level, you’ll also find a theater, game room, wine cellar, and guest suite!
