Ackles grew up in Richardson, TX and got a very early taste of acting when he began appearing in commercials for RadioShack, Nabisco, and Wal-Mart at age 4. His interest in full-time acting was inspired by his father, Alan Ackles, who is an actor himself. Prior to pursuing acting as a profession, however, Jensen planned on studying to become a physical therapist. Thankfully for us all, he decided acting was the path for him. Back in 2014, Jensen and his family relocated from Los Angeles to Austin, TX and purchased this stunning estate for an undisclosed amount. The home wasn’t even originally for sale, but Jensen and Danneel fell instantly in love with it and made the owners an offer.
The lakeside home was built in 1960 and boasts 5 bedrooms and an impressive 7,500 square feet of living space. It was originally Tuscan-inspired but would be torn down to the studs and completely overhauled into the ranch-style abode you see today!
The new home was designed by Paul Lamb Architects in collab with Crowell Builders.
The family room in particular is one of the most eye-catching spaces in the home. Here, you’ll find gorgeous arched oak beams above and a dual-sided fireplace at the center that’s shared between the family room and dining area.
Nearby, you’ll also spot the home’s gourmet kitchen with top of the line appliances and an island with bar seating.
In addition to a living room and spacious family room, the estate also has a casual lounge space complete with a bar!
The massive master suite boasts the same hand-scraped oak flooring that’s found throughout the home. The wood used on the walls in the sitting area, however, is completely made of reclaimed barn wood.
The master ensuite offers not only a glass stall shower and freestanding tub, but also an absolutely stunning view of Lake Austin!
On the back end of the home, you’ll find an entertainer’s paradise in the form of a huge 2-story screened-in porch. The beautiful 4-foot lanterns that decorate the space were actually sourced from Tony Duquette’s estate.
The porch also has a perfect view of lake Austin as well as a nature preserve just across the lake!

Jensen Ackles purchased this Point Dume home back in 2012 for $4.8 million and went on to sell it for $6.5 million in 2015.
The gated Spanish-style residence sits on just over an acre of land and boasts 5 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, and 5,940 square feet of luxury living space.
It’s clear from looking at this custom gourmet kitchen that a lot of love went into its design when the home was remodeled in 2014. High-end appliances, custom cabinetry, hand-painted tiles, and Calcutta marble countertops – talk about luxurious!
The walnut flooring seen here also carries throughout the rest of the home.
The master suite makes up most of the second level, offering a beautiful ocean view as well as a fireplace, balcony, dual walk-in closets, and a spacious ensuite.
The ensuite comes with a freestanding tub, massive steam shower, and double vanities!
The resort-style backyard offers ample entertainment space in the form of several lounge areas and a pool & spa.
Jensen Ackles House Brentwood (Former)
This one was trickier to find compared to Jensen’s other properties, but VR did all the real estate digging so you don’t have to!
According to property records, Ackles purchased this Mediterranean-style home in 2009 for $2.435 million.
Built in 1947, the home boasts 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms as well as 3,554 square feet of living space.
The kitchen features a commercial-grade fridge as well as double stoves, a wine fridge, and a breakfast bar off the peninsula.
Outside, the backyard boasts a swimming pool, outdoor kitchen, and plenty of lush fruit trees and plants that provide both landscape and privacy.
There’s even a 900-square foot guest house on the property that features its own gated entrance!
Jensen listed the home in 2012 for $3.459 million, though the details of an actual sale are unknown.
Jensen Ackles House Studio City (Former)
Jensen snapped up this 1,414 square foot home in Studio City, CA for $645,000 in 2013. Sadly, no interior photos of the home exist currently, but what we can say is that it was built in 1964 and features 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
The home comes with a large deck on the second floor as well as an attached garage and a patio on the ground level that’s protected by a tall wall.
In 2013, Jensen Ackles sold the property for $700,000.

Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki Friendship
As fictional brothers go, there’s no bond like that of Moose and Squirrel aka Sam and Dean Winchester aka Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles! After 15 long years of playing brothers in over 300 episodes of Supernatural, however, it seems the two have become brothers IRL.
Over the years, the pair have experienced every major milestone in their lives together, from getting married to having children and more – they’ve been through it all as friends. Ackles even briefly lived with Jared while the two were filming in Vancouver and both men acted as each other’s groomsman on their big days.
Following what feels like a lifetime of starring on Supernatural together, the pair remain incredibly close and involved in each other’s lives.
Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles Fight
Even the closest siblings can have the occasional drama – and Ackles and Padalecki are no exception. In 2021, it was revealed via Twitter that Jensen was developing the Supernatural spin-off The Winchesters.
While fans were overjoyed by the news, there was one issue – Padalecki had zero knowledge the project even existed and found out on Twitter. Given that he spent over a decade of his life working on the original series, you can see how this may have rubbed the actor the wrong way initially.
In response, Jared Tweeted that while he was happy for Jensen, he was disappointed to have learned it from the social media platform and not Jensen himself. Thankfully, the pair communicated only hours after Jared’s Tweet and would reconcile. According to Jensen, he had avoided telling others about the project, even Jared, at the time because he wanted to ensure the project was actually going to happen before the reveal.
In a follow-up Tweet, Jared stated:
“@JensenAckles and I had a great talk, as we do often, and things are good. The show is early in the process with miles to go. We’ve travelled a lot of roads together, and sometimes those damn roads have bumps. Bumps don’t stop us. Once brothers, always brothers.”
