Gloria owns the 2 first floors of this building, as well as a guest suite in the 3rd floor. She paid a measly $120k in the 70's for the first 2 floors. In 2017 she paid $1.1M for the 3rd floor suite.

Feminist and writer Gloria Steinem has paid just north of $1 million for an Upper East Side diamond in the rough, a third-floor walk-up in the building where she already owns the first and second floors.

Steinem’s new one-bedroom, which she plans to use as a guest suite, was sold by the estate of Mary Ann Madden, who created New York magazine’s puzzle page for 40 years. During the late 1960s, when Steineim was first crashing through glass ceilings, Madden and Steinem rented separate, floor-through apartments in the five-story building at 118 East 73rd Street.

When the building converted to a co-op in the 1970s, Steinem bought the first two floors and turned them into a duplex, where she has lived for almost 50 years. The new 3rd floor unit will be a guest suite for her visitors.
